Soccer is one of the most famous sport in the world. It is enjoyed by millions of people worldwide, and people from all backgrounds are brought together to cheer up for their favorite team. I am personally a fan of Real Madrid and I used to play soccer almost everyday in my childhood, but things changed when I got injured during a soccer match.

When I was thirteen years old, my school held a soccer competition where each classroom could form a team to participate in the tournament. There was a total of eight teams in the tournament and it was played in a medium size concrete soccer field. It was very competitive since all teams were almost on the same level, so any team could have won the tournament. The matches were set up and my team was the second one to play. I was playing the position of goal keeper when the match started. None of the teams scored any goals in the first half. It was a tight game. In the second half, a striker kicked the ball to the left corner of my goal. I ducked and with my left hand I managed to save the shoot, but I felt an intense pain on my left wrist. I yelled to stop the game, but they did not pause. After saving the goal, I saw the ball was laying in front of me and another striker was about to kick the ball to score. Somehow I stood up, ran to the ball, turned my body around and blocked the shoot while holding my left wrist. After saving the shoot, I was crouching on the floor and realized that I fractured my wrist. The pain was unbearable. They stopped the game and took me out of the field to wait for an ambulance. While I was waiting for the ambulance, one of my friends told me that we won the match, and that the next two games two more players fractured their wrist as well. Then, they took me to the hospital, fixed my wrist and put a cast around my arm. I continued playing in the defense position while I had my cast on, but stopped few years later because my wrist did not fully recover.

In summary, as a teenager I was really crazy about soccer. I used to play whenever I had a chance with my friends. But it changed when I dislocated my wrist after blocking a shoot in a tournament, and stopped playing.

Did the exact same player break the other two players wrist as well? If so, he should definitely try becoming a professional soccer player.
Its unfortunate that the injury never completely healed. Eight years ago I injured my shoulder and it still bothers me to this day, so I understand the frustration of never being able to utilize a certain body part like the past. Did you ever think about changing positions so that you would not have to use your wrists at much? I don’t play soccer frequently, but I imagine that you would not really need to use your wrists unless you were the goalkeeper.

As I have broken my ankle from playing basketball, I can totally relate to your experience. Although sports can be very beneficial, individuals can get severely injured and could be life changing. While I still play basketball every now and then, my ankle injury stopped me from playing on any basketball leagues.
